The United Kingdom will not automatically expel EU citizens from the country after the deadline for submitting applications for new documents on June 30, 2021. This was announced on Friday by the coordinator of the European Parliament on Britain’s exit from the European Union Guy Verhofstad.
“There will be no automatic deportation,” Verhofstad said, noting that EU citizens will have the opportunity to submit documents, “indicating the reasons for which it was impossible to do this as part of the standard procedure.”
The UK Ministry of the Interior last year informed that several million EU citizens living on a permanent basis in the UK would need to receive new immigration status after Brexit. The necessary documents for adults cost £ 65 ($ 83.8), for children under 16 years old – 32.5 pounds ($ 41.9). The deadline for submitting applications for new documents is June 30, 2021.
