On 12th February, Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that choosing Vietnam as the host for the second round of summit between the US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un displays that the Southeast Asian country is headed in the right direction.
Last week, Trump stated that he would be holding his second round of meeting with North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital on 27th-28th February. The meeting of the two leaders pursues an untypical summit that took place between the two leaders in the wealthy city-state of Singapore on 11th June.
Xuan Phuc informed his government officials at the Hanoi Stock Exchange that holding of this crucial event in Vietnam shows that Vietnam’s investment environment is favorable and that development model of Vietnam is going in a right path, especially keeping in mind the fact that the security and safety in Vietnam is simply amazing. He even stated that Vietnam would be able to display and prove its international role.
Vietnam’s foreign minister, Pham Binh Minh, would be visiting North Korea from 12 to 14th February just before the summit.
North Korean state news agency affirmed the fact that Vietnamese delegates had arrived, but did not offer any further details of their itinerary or agenda.
As Vietnam gears up for the summit, its reform model is being widely praised as the economic path for indigent and isolated North Korea to ensue. Last year, Mike Pompeo, U.S. Secretary of State stated North Korea might follow the example of Vietnam, adding that Trump believed Pyongyang could copy Hanoi’s path to normal relations with Washington and to growth.
