Kazakhstan and Lebanon plan to expand bilateral relations

Lebanon is interested in expanding bilateral Kazakh-Lebanese relations. This was stated by the Ambassador of Lebanon in Kazakhstan, Giskard El Khoury, at a meeting with the chairman of the Majilis (lower house of parliament) of Kazakhstan NurlanNigmatulin in Nur-Sultan, the press service of the parliament of Kazakhstan reported.

During the talks, the sides discussed topical issues of cooperation, including at the inter-parliamentary level. Special attention was paid to security issues and the strengthening of global peace.

Nigmatulin recalled that Kazakhstan seeks to achieve peace in the region by providing a platform for a Syrian settlement, as well as through the participation of the Kazakhstani peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon.

As reported, in October 2018, peacekeepers from Kazakhstan launched a UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. The rotation of the first Kazakhstani peacekeeping company, which consists of 120 people, was held in April 2019.
