Russia Objects as Trump States That Mediation of the US in Venezuela Is an Option


US President Donald Trump stated that US’s military arbitration in Venezuela was a choice as Western countries heighten their pressure on socialist leader Nicolas Maduro to resign; however, the troubled OPEC country’s ally Russia cautioned against ‘destructive interference’.

The United States, Canada and Many Latin American nations, along with the US A, and Canada have disowned Maduro over his debated re-election last year and acknowledged self-declared President Juan Guaido as the nation’s legitimate leader.

Trump stated U.S. military intercession was under deliberation during an interview. He even mentioned that helping put Venezuela is certainly an option. Trump stated that Maduro demanded a meeting month back. However, he turned down the request.

Last week, Trump administration issued impeding sanctions on Venezuelan state-owned oil firm PDVSA, which forms a crucial source of revenue.

Maduro, who has overseen an economic collapse and also the migration of millions of Venezuelans, still have the support of Russia, Turkey, China and also the important support of the military. Tens of thousands of people hit the streets of many Venezuelan cities in order to protest against the government of Maduro.

Maduro without directly responding to Trump stated that there would be peace in Venezuela and the government would be guarantying peace along with civil military unity. However, he added that he refuses to call for any fresh elections and the next election would be held in 2024.

Since, Guaido proclaimed himself as the president and displayed that he has the backing of the military and Venezuela’s armed forces are ready to defend the nation, Maduro has overseen many military drills.
