The adoption of the second package of US sanctions against Russia shows a dismissive attitude of the United States to the principle of presumption of innocence. This was stated in the Russian embassy in Washington.
“The USA has once again demonstrated to the whole world the devil-may-care attitude to such fundamental principles of a law-based state as the presumption of innocence and the need to bear the burden of proof of the charges. Not to mention the observance of the elementary norms of civilized communication,” the message says.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Maria Zakharova called the introduction of new sanctions by the American side “outright provocation.” According to her, restrictive measures are meaningless, as they duplicate each other and do not lead to a change in Russia’s domestic and foreign policy.
On August 2, US President Donald Trump signed a decree introducing a second package of restrictive measures against Russia. The reason for the new sanctions, the American side called the fact that Moscow did not provide guarantees of non-repetition of the situation with the Crypts.
