The current situation “on the ground” in Syria was substantively examined in the light of the surge in terrorist activity in Idlib and the maintenance of tension in the north-east of the country. In this regard, the importance of achieving lasting stabilization in Syria and around it, based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, was emphasized. The Foreign Ministry of Russia added that Lavrov and Pedersen discussed in detail the state of affairs in the political process with an emphasis on completing the formation and launching of the ATS constitutional committee.
