The European Union and Canada have entered into an agreement on ocean partnership. The parties have made commitments to cooperate in the fight against poaching, marine pollution and climate change.
Also, the EU and Canada plan to cooperate in the conservation and sustainable management of aquatic biological resources, the press service of the European Commission told.
“The enormous challenges facing our oceans were one of the priorities of my mandate, from climate change to plastic pollution and illegal fishing. No country or region can solve these problems alone. I am glad that together the EU and Canada are leading the way to healthier oceans,” commented European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Carmen Vella.
