The Netherlands took diplomatic steps towards Russia because of their unwillingness to cooperate in investigating the crash of flight MH17 in Donbas.
It is noted that the Minister spoke about the measures taken by the prosecutor’s office to the Parliament. What steps are in question, not reported.
Earlier, on June 19, the Prosecutor General of the Netherlands, Fred Westerbeke, said that Russia was silent about some of the information about the disaster and was not answering the questions asked by the investigation.
Prior to that, Vladimir Chizhov, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the European Union, indicated that the investigation of the Joint Investigation Team would hardly lead to a fair result. In January, Russia accused the Netherlands of wanting to hide data on the investigation into the crash of the Malaysian Boeing.
Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777, which flew from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on flight MH17, crashed in the Donetsk region in the summer of 2014. All 298 people on board died. The Joint Investigation Team involved in investigating the disaster includes representatives from Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Ukraine. In May 2018, the JIT concluded that Boeing shot down the Beech of the Russian armed forces. Russia denies military involvement in the plane crash.
