US President Donald Trump said that the US is considering the possibility of blockade of Venezuela.
“Yes, I am considering,” he said, answering the corresponding question from journalists.
In Venezuela, on January 21, mass protests began against President Nicolas Maduro shortly after he was sworn in. The head of the National Assembly, controlled by the opposition, Juan Guaido illegally proclaimed himself the interim head of state. A number of Western countries, led by the United States, have declared its recognition.
Maduro called Guaido a puppet of the United States. Russia, China, Turkey and a number of other countries supported Maduro as a legitimate president. In Moscow, the “presidential status” of the Guaido was called non-existent.
