At the conference “The European Way of Georgia” in Batumi, the head of the European Council, Donald Tusk, called the collapse of the USSR a “blessing” for all peoples.
“The collapse of the Soviet Union was not the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century. Today in Georgia, I want to say loudly and clearly: the collapse of the USSR was a blessing for Georgians, Poles, Ukrainians and all of Eastern and Central Europe. And also for Russians,” he said.
It should be noted that the conference “European Way of Georgia” was timed to the 10th anniversary of the EU Eastern Partnership program. Over 50 guests from the European Union and its partners, the ministers of foreign affairs of Armenia, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden, Estonian Prime Minister JüriRatas and European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christ Stylianides participate in it.
Within the framework of the conference, thematic sessions and the signing of financial documents on the allocation of funds as economic assistance to Georgia are scheduled.
