His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has met Brazilian Defense Minister, Fernando Azevedo e Silva, as part of Sheikh Abdullah’s official trip to Brazil.
During the meeting, the two sides considered ways of improving cooperation between the UAE and Brazil, especially in the military and defense sector. They also talked about the latest developments in the region and shared views on a number of international issues of mutual concern.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah underscored the need to strengthen ties between the UAE and Brazil and their ongoing eagerness to bolster them.
The Brazilian Defense Minister on his part applauded the high-level relations between both nations, emphasizing the significance of fostering collaboration across various sectors. He also praised the UAE’s pioneering status at the regional and international levels and its ambition to support the international community endeavors to bring stability and peace in the world.
The meeting was attended by Hafsa Abdulla Al Ulama, UAEs Ambassador to Brazil.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also met Ernesto Araujo, Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs. Sheikh Abdullah praised the increasing ties between the UAE and Brazil, thanks to the unlimited support of their leadership, and the two nations’ eagerness to boost cooperation in all fields.
Ernesto Araujo appreciated Sheikh Abdullah’s visit to Brazil and praised the developing relations between the two nations. He also lauded the status gained by the UAE in regional and international arenas.
After the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah and Araujo endorsed a number of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding MoUs, including agreements between the governments of the UAE and Brazil on cooperation and facilitating investments; mutual extradition of criminals; and mutual legal assistance on criminal cases.
Sheikh Abdullah conveyed his pleasure at the improving relations between the two nations. He stated this was his sixth visit to Brazil since Ernesto Araujo became the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Sheikh Abdullah conveyed his hope that Brazil will make a strong presence during Expo 2020 Dubai. He also expressed his hope that Brazil would benefit from the UAE’s logistical capabilities in transportation of Brazilian goods to the various parts of the world such as East Africa, the Middle East and South Asia.
