US President Donald Trump said Thursday that US and Chinese authorities are choosing a new venue for the first phase of the trade deal, which will cover about 60% of the entire trade agreement. He posted the corresponding message on his page on Twitter.
“China and the US are working on choosing a new place to sign the first phase of the trade agreement, about 60% of the total deal, after the APEC [summit] in Chile was canceled due to irrelevant circumstances. A new place will be announced soon. The President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump will put their signatures! ” – wrote the American leader.
US and Chinese leaders were due to meet at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Santiago de Chile on November 16 and 17. It was likely that the first version of the trade and economic agreement between the two countries would be concluded at this event. However, Chilean President Sebastian Pinera said on Wednesday that he was forced to cancel the forum due to the difficult situation in the republic.
