US strikes military facilities related to Iran in Syria and Iraq

The United States launched several attacks against five sites of the Shiite Kataib Hezbollah group in Syria and Iraq in response to the attacks attributed to it.  This is stated in a statement issued on Sunday by Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman.

“In response to the repeated attacks by Kataib Hezbollah on Iraqi bases that host the coalition forces of Operation Unshakable Decision (which is being led by the US-led coalition in Iraq and Syria – TASS), US forces launched targeted attacks on  defensive targets at the five objects of the group in Iraq and Syria, which will weaken its ability in the future to strike at coalition forces, “he said.  Hoffman added that we are talking about three sites in Iraq and two in Syria.  Among them were weapons depots and command posts.  According to the representative of the defense department, Kataib Hezbollah is responsible for rocket fire at the Iraqi base near Kirkuk, which killed an American civilian contractor.  Hoffman claims that the group is associated with the Al-Quds intelligence service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces).

According to a representative of the agency, the United States “will not give up the right to self-defense.” Iran and its puppet forces from Kataib Hezbollah must stop their attacks on American and coalition forces, respect Iraqi sovereignty in order to prevent additional defensive actions by American forces, ”  – concluded Hoffman.
